Start-Up GrantThe Office of Child Care and CCR&R has funding available for individuals wishing to get a Family or Family Group Child Care License. Up to $250 is given to providers to cover costs of initial licensing fees and expenses. The grant is a reimbursement after the expenses have already incurred.

You will need to keep receipts from purchases you make, such as:
  • Bureau of Licensing fees
  • Business license fees
  • Fire inspection fees
  • Fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, first aid kits
  • First aid and CPR training
  • Food Handler's permit training
  • TB test fee
  • 5-hour Basic Child Care training fee

The Office of Child Care and CCR&R has funding available for Licensed Family or Family Group Child Care providers. Toys and materials (valued at $250) are given to providers to enhance their programs and environments. Grantees will be able to select toys and materials from a LakeShore Learning Materials catalog.

You may request this grant any time during your first year of licensure. As part of the conditions, you will be required to attend 20 hours of training, any two of the following courses:

  • Child Development: Healthy Care (10 hours)
  • Child Development: Ages & Stages (10 hours)
  • Child Development: Learning in the Early Years (10 hours)
